At age 17, She came with her sister, Augusta, to America, 6 months after their parents came here. She worked as a maid for 2 years, when she met John Koerlin and was married.
1903, they lived in the country 3 miles south of West Brook, MN on an 80 acre farm. They were blessed with 8 children. She was the oldest in her family.
William Koerlin was born May 27, 1854, in a small town called Noskel, near Hamberg, Germany..
As a young man, he worked in the forest in Russia where they cut timber and floated the logs down the Volga River into Germany.
1874, at age 20, he was drafted into the German Army where he was required to serve 3 years. He was with the Calvery and had 2 horses to care for.
The next 3 years, he worked in the shipyards in Brenam for 9 months in the year and 3 months of training, same as the national guard in this country. At age 26, he immigrated to the US in NY.
He went to Boston in 1880, where he worked in the sugar factory for 6 years and met Caroline.
Never married.
Died in the Army in World War I.
